Hiki No Softball Scholarship

Goal: Create a 3 minute personal profile or news story that showcases high quality interview composition, clearly recorded voiceovers, natural sounds, stable and well composed 3 shot B-Roll sequences, L & J-cuts, balanced audio and smooth progression of the story.

BLOG POST:
First, describe your story topic and what you intend to communicate to your audience. What will they learn from watching it and what will make them care? From the critique of your rough cut, explain how you've improved the 5 point story flow, tone of voiceovers, sequencing of B-roll, editing techniques and the overall message. (6 sentence minimum)

Our topic was about Sabrina and what she had to do to get where she is now in softball. I think the audience will learn about the dedication she has for the sport.  I think the way we could make people care is by showing people what she not only does on the field but what she does off the field. We actually changed our story from the rough cut. I think changing our topic was a good choice because we were able to make a better and more compelling story. I believe it was a better topic to present.

Then, explain the purpose of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). What is copyright infringement and what are the legal consequences of using material without permission? How can you get permission to use copyrighted materials? Explain "Fair Use" and give two specific examples of using copyrighted material without permission that is legal. (6 Sentence minimum)

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is the United States copyright law. Copyright infringement is the violation of a copyright owner's exclusive rights granted by the federal copy right act. If someone uses material without permission the legal consequences are; the infringer pays the actual dollar amount of damages and profits, the law provides a range from $200 to $150,000 for each work infringed, the infringer pays for all attorneys fees and court costs, the Court can issue an injunction to stop the infringing acts, the Court can impound the illegal works and the infringer can go to jail. You can get permission to use copyrighted material by contacting the owner of the material and negotiate if you need to make a payment or not and you should get the permission agreement in writing just incase.

Finally, why is it essential to gain permission to film on location? What are video release forms used for and why are they mandatory for professional video production? Conclude with a reflection of your critique results. What single area could your team have improved most and how can you address this better in the future? (6 sentence minimum)

ADD your VISUALS: 1) Embed your finished story from Vimeo at the top. 2) Insert a photo bar of 3 behind the scenes photos after your 1st paragraph. 3) Insert a screenshot of your script after your second paragraph. 4) Add an image of your critique results after your final paragraph.
